Sports and Leisure opportunities for the under 18's in Hitchin

NOTICE OF CHILD PROTECTION POLICY

As part of a nationwide initiative to introduce youngsters into the sport of flat green bowls Riverain Indoor Bowls Club are offering reduced cost bowling sessions for under 18's.

These bowling  sessions for young persons are presently on Saturday mornings at the Riverain Club from 9.30 am to 12pm.

The main aim of the scheme is to provide individuals the opportunity to progress to a high standard of bowls achievement, and ability.

Opportunity is provided for participation in bowling at both club and at national levels.

Riverain Club have purchased special small sized bowls to enable young people as young as six years old participate in the sport.

The Riverain Club are also operating a young persons bowling award scheme whereby participants may progress through three levels of award namely bronze, silver and gold, to enable young persons to become fully proficient in the sport.

The award schemes may be of particular interest to scouting or guiding groups who are looking for new ventures for their groups.

Participation in the award scheme is optional and some young people may choose to simply attend and enjoy the bowling participation and tuition.

Degree of involvement is entirely at the choice of any participating individual.

The sport of bowls offers opportunity for regular healthy exercise, skills development and team participation experience.

In accordance with the Policy and Guidelines issued by Bowls England, Riverain Indoor Bowls Club fully accepts its legal and moral obligation to exercise its duty of care and to protect all children (and vulnerable adults) participating in its activities and to safeguard their welfare.

We are committed to do this by acknowledging that :-

  • The welfare of the child is paramount

  • Each child, irrespective of age, gender, race or disability has the right to protection from abuse

  • Each child has a right to be safe & to be treated with respect & dignity

We shall use our best endeavours to ensure that :-

  • All allegations of abuse are taken seriously

  • The response to any allegations is swift and appropriate

  • The effectiveness of our policy is reviewed annually
